Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important political figure said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
